Redevelopment Authority

of the City of Butler

Centre City

Project Summary

The Centre City development consists of a hotel with tier parking garage  and  retail/commercial  development in the City of Butler's TIF District.

Centre City is the redevelopment of prime property in downtown Butler, PA., comprising of a 3 sq. + block area of Main Street/ North McKean Streets, bounded by East Jefferson and East Cunningham Streets.

The development was part of a multi-phased redevelopment strategy for the designated West End/Main St  Revitalization of the City, and is in a DCED designated Main Street Program.  The two+-acre parcel was owned by public sector entities.

The Hotel, Marriott, is a high quality structure-providing conference and meeting facilities
for regional organizations and professional groups seeking conference space.  It is anticipated that the hotel will also be used by local residents and local organizations for special events.

The location is prime because the downtown area serves as a natural attraction

to commercial and historical points of interest and provides an economic stimulus

for other downtown businesses such as restaurants and stores.

With almost every type of professional organization sponsoring an annual

conference and effective marketing and promotion,  the Centre City Development

is a successful catalyst to downtown economic development.
